My Go-To Skincare and Makeup Essentials for a Flawless Look at Any Age

Skincare and Makeup Essentials

I turned 37 this year, which means a lot of time is spent on taking care of my looks! Whether you’re in your teens or older than 37, taking care of your skin is essential. This is a time to trust your tried-and-true products to look good in person and pictures. And so, I thought I’d share mine with you…

Skin Prep Essentials:

Cleansing Foam: I enjoy using Esfolio Snail Cleansing foam 5.29 oz  for skin prep | $9.99-$11. It’s perfect for sensitive skin and won’t break the bank | Especially for dry winter months; you’re going to need some sunscreen to avoid UV damage whilst you’re hopefully enjoying the weather! So, I recommend a formula that will act as a makeup primer, too.

Serum: CSRXsnail mucin96 MucinPower Essence3.38 oz. This product contains as much as 96% snail mucin concentrate; this essence adds intense moisture to the skin to heal and relieve damage from within, resulting in a rejuvenated complexion.

Daily Moisturizer: I’m a natural base girl through and through, so obviously, my beloved Perricone MD Nourishing moisturizer2oz From (TJ Maxx) | $19.99  but elsewhere could cost you as much as $75 | at Nordstrom. Save your coins and get it at TJ(Maxx)

Sunscreen & Primer: Then I add a high level of broad-spectrum protection with an amazing texture and a brightening sheen to create a brilliant all-in-one with no lumps or flashbacks. BlackGirl Sunscreen KidsBroad Spectrum– SPF 50 3oz $9.99 at Target, and don’t let the kid’s name on the bottle fool you; it is excellent for all ages and, from my experience, most skin types.

Everything I’ve listed is currently in my vacation makeup bag. I’ve been using this product for almost a decade, and it’s still unrivaled in my eyes. It evens out my skin tone, balances any redness or dullness and just gives me a healthy, glowing complexion that still looks like my skin. It doesn’t fade or go patchy or sink into fine lines, so I know I can trust this to hold up on a long day.

Foundation and Concealer for a Natural Base:

Foundation:

Just to give an extra little bit of coverage to keep my skin camera-ready, I do also add a few little dots of the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Long wear Foundation Hydrating Foundation* | $13 | review and demo | only where needed. This foundation is literally one of the only ones on the market that is light enough for my skin.

I love the lighter formula; it never feels too heavy. As long as I make sure to set enough in places, I tend to have combination skin, so if you have oily or dry skin, you don’t have to worry about separation, either! For me, this is the perfect balance of letting my skin shine through whilst keeping things photo-ready.

Concealer:

For concealer, my favorite products for coverage (without the cake) are all about hydration and longevity; it has to be the e.l.f Hydrating Camo Concealer  | $7| full reviews. I’ve bought this concealer twice, and I love it; it’s super hydrating, moisturizing, and thick but also doesn’t heavy on the skin; it’s super light, and the shade selection is really superb. I’m always looking for a great concealer, and usually, even the lightest shade is too dark or too light, but not this one; it’s better than the Maybelline Age Rewind (I have one, and it has ZERO coverage). It’s also super easy to blend with the other products I listed! Buy this concealer, ya’ll! (It usually lasts me six months; I use it every day!).

Setting powder for a flawless finish:

As for setting powder, I have a little travel-size container of the  Morphe Bake & set soft Focus Setting Powder Translucent  |(0.86 oz $7 |  reviews | that I keep in my bag for days when I want my makeup to stay looking fresh for hours.

It’s so finely milled and doesn’t add any color or coverage, making it perfect for topping up throughout the day to keep shine at bay without creating cake. If you want to get a little extra mileage out of cream cheek products, you can even set your cheeks with a little of this. The translucent finish also makes it great for lending to other people who need it!

Highlight eyeshadow for a natural pop:

For highlight, it has to be the Juvia’s Place Rebel Quad Palette   | $11. Juvia’s Place is one of my top three go-to for eyeshadows, especially brights and ‘neon’. Some of their formulas have an issue with oxidizing and shifting upon application, but this palette stays true to color, which is gorgeous itself. Stays well throughout the day, even when I work a 10-hour day and sweat.

Eyelashes:

For special occasions or day to day wear I use Lovely Minx eyelash extensions and accessories. The lash clusters are light weight like feathers and looks natural in appearance.

Blush it up with my favorites:

In terms of blush and products for the cheeks, I have a few favorites that I know I can depend on. I have two blushes that I can trust to serve me on the go, plus one of them doubles as a lip color!

Blush: First favorite:

One is the Makeup Revolution Super Dewy Liquid Blusher  0.5 FL oz| $7 |  full review. I bought this as the set of the super dewy range trio. When it arrived, I was worried about how pink it looked in the squeezy tube. However, a very small amount goes a long way. I use a tiny bead on my hand and use my finger to apply it to the apples of my cheeks and up to my hairline. The ‘dewy ness’ keeps my face feeling soft and hydrated but not sticky.

Blush:  Second favorite:

I also love my long-term favorite: the e.l.f Camo liquid Blush– 0.13fl oz | $7 | full review | which is branded as a blush. It has so many more beautiful colors to choose from; I’m sure most of you could find a great cheek match in this amazing formula.

This blush is literally so pigmented like all you need is one dot, and that’s even too much. A rare beauty DUPE.! This is great for people who are just getting into makeup or for the people who don’t want to spend much for great quality products like me as it’s cheap and the quality is better than some high-end products 10/10 would recommend.
